Sabert NJ Awards Local Scholarship
Sayreville, NJ - June 7, 2011 - Sabert
Corporation, a NJ based company, announced the 2011 winner of its
company sponsored scholarship award. Jessica Iocca, of Sayreville,
was awarded this year's scholarship. The winner was awarded a 4
year scholarship of $5000 for each year to cover tuition and
related expenses (as long as the student continues their
education).
Each year, Sabert donates scholarship
money to three high school seniors located near one of its three
manufacturing facilities. Sayreville High School, where Sabert's
headquarters and largest US plant are located, is the participating
high school. Over twenty seniors of Sayreville High School
submitted applications in 2011 which included a comprehensive
summary of their high school record, outside activities, and
responses to two essay questions. A committee of Sabert employees
reviewed the applications and evaluated each candidate, ultimately
selecting Jessica as the winner.
A luncheon was held on June 7 to honor
Jessica as the winner. Attendees included Mayor Kennedy Obrien,
Sayreville High School personnel including Paula Schnorbus and
Donna Sicola from the Guidance Department, the principal, James
Brown and winners from the past 2 years. Jessica was joined at the
luncheon by her grandmother, Patricia Iocca.
